Salary $13.45 Hourly
Complete cleaning and animal care tasks associated with maintaining a healthy animal holding facility for the Olathe Police Department.Tasks include feeding and caring for impounded animals and preparing the animal shelter for public access through cleaning, sanitization, and janitorial duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize all cat cages including those in the rabies observation room.
- Clean and sanitize all kennels including those in the rabies observation room.
- Complete all janitorial duties including the areas of the bathroom, offices, kitchen, food preparation areas, and euthanasia room.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
Experience & Education:
Experience :Work in kennel and/or cattery environments, experience recognizing and working with canine and feline behavior, and experience in recognizing common canine and feline diseases preferred.
Knowledge of :Proper kennel cleaning techniques, animal handling and behavior, animal nutrition, rabies control,animal segregation and isolation, and maintenance of equipment used in animal handling and shelter operations preferred.
Supplemental Information:
Must be at least17 years of age, and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Applicants must successfully pass a background investigation, oral board interview,and drug test.
Normal Working Hours: Approximately 15-19 hours per week , Early morning - morning hours. Schedule and hours will be shared with other Animal Care Technicians.
