- Assist the public with the weekly HHW appointments & the Monthly collections event.
- Assist with the management & segregation of HHW materials to meet state regulations for proper disposal.
- Develop an ongoing understanding of hazardous materials with a commitment to personal growth through continued learning.
- Understand and implement safety practices for management of HHW materials, including wearing of the appropriate PPE for personal protection.
- Assist in educating the public on what constitutes HHW and its proper management.
- Organize and prepare the HHW facility for public use.Ensure that the operations and facilities associated with the HHW program are in compliance with Federal, State, and local codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Coordinate with staff to ensure all customer service requests are resolved in an efficient and timely manner.Demonstrate professionalism in managing emergency situations.
- Must be able to demonstrate ethical behavior in working closely with others.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education Guidelines: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
Experience: Specific experience in HHW operations and lab packing/bulking procedures. Ability to operate a forklift. Must be able to lift 60 pounds at a time regularly. Must be able to work Saturdays.
Education: High school diploma or GED; technical training, or college level courses relevant to hazardous waste management.
License & Certification(s): Valid Driver's License. Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a 24 hour HAZWOPER certification within 6 months of hire.
