The Senior Asset Manager (SAM) works collaboratively with others for the development and promotion of consistent asset management policies and procedures that provide for enhanced data driven decision making and reporting, maintenance activities process improvements, increased efficiencies, and innovation.

- Manage the Asset Management staff, activities, programs and projects for the City of Olathe, including development of policies and procedures. Monitor and evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of the city asset management activities using provided tools.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate through subordinate level staff the City's asset management activities, including assigned projects and programmatic areas.
- Coach/Lead, motivate, develop, and evaluate assigned personnel.
- Assure the development and implementation of Asset Management Plans, Overall Condition Indexes and estimated end of life prediction models for all major asset classes within the Department's jurisdiction.
- Conduct regular meetings with staff to ensure maintenance activities are closely coordinated with other city Departments, Infrastructure Divisions, procurement, engineering, vendors, and contractors as necessary, to ensure a consistent, high level of service to internal and external customers. Lead Infrastructure Asset Management Steering Team.
- Ensure all customer service requests are resolved; respond to inquiries in a courteous manner, resolve complaints in an effective and timely manner.
- Performs highly responsible technical work providing planning, scheduling, and coordination services to support the Field Operations Division and in-house maintenance, contracted maintenance programs, wastewater collection/water distribution systems and built parks infrastructure.
- Serve as the Departmental subject matter expert for work order management/asset management system. Maintain Field Operations Division work order systems, key performance indicator reporting, and report generation. Provide training and support to employees in the use of the work order management/asset management systems.
- Lead Departmental staff in infrastructure data collection and tracking of labor-hours, materials, equipment and work order details/history to ensure accurate and timely entry into the work order management/asset management system.
- Utilize the work order management/asset management system to evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance activities and evaluate asset condition and life cycle costs.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and plans as needed to support Departmental activities.

Experience and Education Guidelines Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
Experience : Five ( 5) years demonstrated experience in maintenance project management, planning, scheduling, inventory and supervision in a public, industrial or related setting and knowledge of predictive, reliability centered maintenance theory is desired. Experience working in GIS, Cartegraph and MS Project preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field (examples include; engineering, construction management, environmental water technology, GIS or computer sciences). Ten (10) years demonstrated performance in a related position and college course work in the above disciplines may substitute bachelor's degree.
Certifications : Candidates with previous project, program and/or maintenance management trainings or certifications will be considered favorably.
